Doctor of Philosophy (Pacific Studies)

On successful completion of this programme, graduates should be able to:

1. Critically interrogate conceptual tools of understanding and research that would lead to novel ways of understanding Pacific communities.
2. Use current theoretical concepts, research methodologies, evaluative approaches, and key issues to create new ideas, arising out of original research that would help in tackling contemporary challenges in the Pacific.
3. Produce a well-informed Pacific Studies research that contributes to the body of knowledge addressing contemporary problems and issues affecting the Pacific region.
4. Design and execute research activities, which contributes to original knowledge in Pacific Studies.
5. Articulate complex ideas and research effectively, in the field of Pacific studies, through research presentations and publications for a scholarly audience, using appropriate media, disciplinary terminology, and conventions.
